The AN/ WSC-6( V) 1 SHF terminal is installed aboard SURTASS vessels. The antenna group is configured in a single or dual configuration to give 360 degrees of antennaĪN/ WSC-6( V) 1. The AN/ WSC-6( V) consists of the radio group and the antenna group. The AN/ WSC-6( V) shipboard terminal is designed for use on surface ships to satisfy the Navy SHF ship-to-shore communications requirements while remaining within the cost, weight, and size constraints of the shipboard environment. SSNs also require a wideband capability provided in conjunction with the modified high data rate (SUB HDR) program. The DSCS SHF requirement will be expanded to all LCCs, AGFs, SURTASS, CVs/ CVNs, LHAs/ LHDs, flag-configured and new construction LPDs, TOMAHAWK or AEGIS-capable CGs/ DDGs/ DDs, CLF ships, and Mine Countermeasures Support (MCS) ships. Currently, SHF capability is deployed on Numbered Fleet Commander flagships, CVNs, flag-capable amphibious ships, and DSCS SHF continues to provide the Navy with the required global connectivity among fleet units, joint forces, allied and NATO forces, and Naval C4I commands.
